Operated by Incisive Media plc,
Dealing with Technology (DWT) is a major annual event for the financial
services industry. Between 1995 and 2001 the event had been held in London
and New York. In 2005 DWT was returning to the latter city for the first
time since the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Centre.
DWT focuses on global trading room information technology
solutions through a series of themed presentations and seminars. These
are supported by an exhibition where vendors can promote themselves
to a focused group of delegates.
Work began in September 2004 and continued for the
next nine months. We worked with Incisive Media’s internal team
and an external event management consultant, Next Step Forward’s
Maggie Cairney.
The design and production work encompassed large scale
exhibition panels and signage, conventional printed documents, digital
documents and forms.
A simple colour code was was applied to all the collateral
to differentiate each event at a glance. Promotional material designed
and produced included advertising for US and UK journals, direct mail
pieces and reminders. Technical documents for exhibitors describing the
venue location, facilities and exhibition stand features, were prepared
for distribution in Adobe Acrobat format.
The event organisers required forms for identifying
exhibitors’ technical needs for their exhibition stands and for
gathering the information for entries in the event directory.
Information material for the events ranged in scale
from information panels for each exhibitor's stand to multi-page event
directories, t-shirts and carrier bags for delegates.

Holding slides, prepared in Microsoft PowerPoint, ensured continuity
between the various presentations.
Templates were prepared for letters and press releases. Forms were
designed for booking, event guide directory entry and exhibition
stand technical requirements.
These templates and forms were prepared in Microsoft Word format
for distribution and collection via email. Due to the absence of
extensive re-keyboarding of the collected information, errors were
reduced, The text only needed subediting before supply to us.
