Information
about the gîtes was augmented by a schematic site plan, maps
of the region and its attractions, and links to travel information
and services.
Information about cultural activities and festivals, with
links to appropriate French web sites, was also provided. |

When our friends Abi and
John announced their decision to purchase a farm and gîtes in
France, to establish a holiday business, we were as excited
as they were. Subsequently they invited us to prepare proposals for a
web site to promote their new business.
With its leisure focus, this project represented
something of a departure for us. Nevertheless our usual thorough
approach to content proved appropriate and fruitful.
At the outset it seemed clear to us that it was not sufficient
to advertise the gîtes without providing information about
attractions in their vicinity. From our own frequent excursions
to France, we knew that apart from the more obvious riches of
the region, there would be all kinds of cultural activities to
provide information about.
Accordingly we encouraged the owners to do some local research, which
resulted in the discovery of a host of varied activities,
running throughout the year.
Working with our client, combining our knowledge of, and enthusiasm
for the country, we developed an information-rich web site which
stands apart from similar, competitive businesses.
This approach resulted in a comprehensive itinerary and ‘calendar’ of
activities, which, in conjunction with more obvious attractions,
would provide potential guests with improved incentives to visit
the region, and, more importantly, to stay at La Ferme de l'Eglise.

‘Hands-on
encouraged us to promote our region as well as the
gîtes themselves. Although this meant extra work for us, we
think the result – a richer web site than we originally envisaged
– has been worth it. And so far the response has been overwhelmingly
positive.’
